Wests Tigers’ player charged with gangland murder

In Sydney’s inner west, a Wests Tigers junior has been accused of the murder of underworld figure Dejan “Danny the Serb” Radulvoic.

Following reports of an attack in Balmain on July 29 of this year, Radulvoic was discovered to have suffered severe head injuries to both his head and torso.

Paramedics attended to the 29-year-old on the spot before he was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, where he passed away shortly after.

Following an extensive investigation, police on Tuesday arrested a 19-year-old man in Australia, who has since been identified as Masei Tavui.

Tavui has reportedly been a member of the Wests Tigers junior ranks for the past four years and played the under-19s competition last year.

He was reportedly not contracted to the club for 2024, while his younger brother is also believed to be part of the club’s development sides.

Tavui was charged with murder before being remanded into to custody to appear before Liverpool Local Court on Tuesday.

The 19-year-old did not apply for release on bail and will remain behind bars on remand before reappearing before the court in December.

Police allege Radulvoic was injured during an altercation with two men who allegedly fled from the scene in a white Jeep.

The vehicle was later found burnt out on Preston Ave at Five Dock a showtime later with a firearm inside.

A post-mortem analysis later revealed Radulvoic had also been shot, with homicide detectives brought in to investigate the alleged murder.

Another man has been charged as an accessory to the murder and remains before the court. Investigations are also still ongoing.
