AFL trade done deal news: The Plyer is with North Melbourne now

A transaction that will see a young defender leave Punt Road has been finalized by the Tigers and Roos.

Bigoa Nyuon, a fringe tall, was dealt by Richmond to North Melbourne in return for a fourth-round draft pick this year.

The Roos are looking to add more height to their roster after the departures of Todd Goldstein and Ben McKay, two key position free agents, who left for Essendon last week. Nyuon has been closely connected to Arden Street.

The Kangaroos secured access to former Sydney defender and Glenelg talent Toby Pink last Fridau via delisted free agency and have now made a move to secure Nyuon from Punt Road.

Nyuon was eligible to move through last week’s free agency period, but a switch to North Melbourne would likely have impacted the Roos’ free agency compensation selection of Pick 3 if they had attained a free agent themselves.

According to AFL.com.au’s Riley Beveridge, Nyuon has now been traded to the Roos in exchange for Pick 65.

The 22-year-old was acquired by the Roos with the fourth-round pick—originally chosen by Hawthorn and traded from Fremantle to North Melbourne—last year.

At 197 cm tall, Nyuon can play defense or as a supporting ruckman. His only senior game experience is one game.

He made his debut last year against the Hawks in Round 9 and recorded six disposals and two tackles.

The additional picks now see the Tigers holding selections 29, 50, 65, and 68 for next month’s National Draft.
